Ferguson says Real move would be a disaster

 Cristiano Ronaldo

Sir Alex Ferguson has told Cristiano Ronaldo that a move to Real Madrid would be a disaster for his career and personally, I agree with him 100 per cent.

Has Ronaldo forgotten that Real Madrid have been no-where near winning the Champions league for the last few seasons? What, apart from money, does he think he has to gain from a move to Madrid? Perhaps, unfortunately money is all it boils down to these days…

Ferguson said: “If you were asked for advice by your son, you would give him the best advice and the worst thing Ronaldo could do is to go to Real Madrid.”

“He is at the right club and a fantastic football club.”

“In the modern day, young lads can be twisted by the talk of money, but if you saw Ronaldo after the Champions League final, he was the happiest boy in the world,” he said.

“I genuinely believe that I know what the best club in the world is for him and that is Manchester United.

“When you have young players, you want the best for them and you want to do the best for them.”

Fergie goes for Berbatov

Filed under: Transfers on Friday, July 18th, 2008 by admin | 3 Comments

Dimitar Berbabtov

Sir Alex Ferguson is hopeful that he can get Dimitar Berbatov from Tottenham and has already made an offer for the Bulgarian striker.

I guess this would at least draw some attention away from Cristiano Ronaldo and the longest transfer/non-transfer saga in football league history!

Talking to The Sun, Fergie said; “We have made Tottenham an offer on Berbatov and we have good expectations that this deal will go through.”

“Berbatov has been impressive during a long time and would be a great addition to our attack.”

“I think time will work for us more than against us.”

“We will not stress this situation. We are hoping to have a constructive conversation with Tottenham in the near future.”

Tottenham are looking for around £20 million for Berbatov so Fergie has his work cut out! But I think Berbatov would be another great signing for United.

Ronaldo left to wait

 Alex Ferguson and Cristiano Ronaldo

It looks like Sir Alex Ferguson is playing Ronaldo at this own game at the moment! There are reports that Sir Alex has not arranged a meeting with Ronaldo as previsouly the entire UK media predicted and reported he would!

Instead Ferguson is focusing his efforts on the purchase of Berbatov from Tottenham. Spurs rejected a £20 million bid on Friday so Ferguson is putting together an improved bid.

I love the way this whole ‘Ronaldo meeting to resolve the Ronaldo stand off’ has been turned into a huge drama! - I bet Ferguson hadn’t even thought about meeting Ronaldo in the first place, he’d never planned to fly back early from his holiday and run to Ronaldo trying to secure him and end the ’stand-off’! What stand off!? Ronaldo’s rights are with Manchester United until 2012 so what has Ferguson got to worry about!?

Anyway here’s the lastest chapter in the life and times of Cristiano Ronaldo - from football365.com enjoy!!

Ronaldo feels like a slave!?

Filed under: Players on Friday, July 11th, 2008 by admin | No Comments

I’m getting sick of this, perhaps Cristiano Ronaldo, you should have thought about what you were actually agreeing to when you signed a contract with Manchester United Football Club!?

Poor Ronaldo feels like a slave to our club now! How can he possibly compare earning hundreds of thousands of pounds, every week, to slavery!?? He’s starting to annoy me now…Watch the you tube footage here>>

Cristiano Ronaldo has ankle op

Filed under: Players on Monday, July 7th, 2008 by admin | No Comments

Ronaldo has undergone surgery on an ankle injury in Amsterdam, he went to a specialist with the United medical team.

He could be out for upto 6 weeks which means he may miss the start of the new season.

Now before any more press stories creep out, personally I think the whole Real Madrid saga has been one huge PR merry-go-round for Ronaldo and that’s it. Only he can say if he is staying with us or leaving, and so far all he’s done is play up to media attention and nothing more

Reaction to Ronaldo’s ankle surgery

Filed under: Players on Thursday, July 3rd, 2008 by admin | No Comments

I’ve just been reading on fooball365.com the news posted - Op Keeps Ronaldo from Manyoo and there has been a mixed reaction from readers whom I presume are all United fans.

The story, which some readers claim to be an attention grabbing headline, is basically suggesting the Cristiano Ronaldo’s operation on his ankle, at some point this week, will actually be a bad thing for Manchester United. The reason being that Sir Alex Ferguson won’t be abe to meet with Ronaldo.

I also love the fact that Ronaldo saying “I can only say that I will spend the period of my recovery in my house in Sintra.” seems to have been interpreted or turned around as ‘he’s NEVER coming back to England’ !!

Either way Ronaldo hasn’t made a formal transfer request and he’s still messing with the media. The Times has reported; ‘The frenzy over Ronaldo’s future may have died down over the past week, but, contrary to reports, the player remains determined to secure a transfer for what would be a world-record fee, likely to be far in excess of £60 million.’

Personally, I agree with the fans who just want Cristiano Ronaldo to make up his mind. That is if he can really afford to make a transfer request. Then again for a new £60 million + deal can he afford not to??

United we stand - Ronaldo is staying

Filed under: Players on Friday, June 20th, 2008 by admin | No Comments

Now that Cristiano Ronaldo’s European Championships is over, after Portugal’s defeat to Germany last night, he says he will reveal his plans in the next few days.

I think this has all been about the publicity for him. Cristiano Ronaldo and Manchester United Football club have signed a long term contract and Ronaldo has only just completed the first year of that contract.

I couldn’t get onto the official United web site Manutd.com just now - perhaps it’s quite busy!

Anyway, reports suggest that we will block any attempt by Real Madrid to sign Ronaldo. The web site says ‘Ronaldo not for sale’ - sounds like end of story for Real Madrid.

The possible transfer fees have been anywhere between £50 million and £80 million! and that doesn’t include the £300K a week wage bill…

Ronaldo says he wants Real move, finally, well sort of…

Filed under: Players on Wednesday, June 4th, 2008 by admin | No Comments

According to reports today Cristiano Ronaldo has told his agent, Jorge Mendes, that he wants to move to Real Madrid. He says it is to fulfil his dream of playing for them.

The Guardian reports ‘The Portugal international has informed his agent, Jorge Mendes, that he wants to play in Spain and his decision has already been outlined to Madrid, encouraging them to step up their attempts to prise him from Old Trafford.’

Ronaldo has made no public announcement himself as he previously stated, but one of his ‘associates’ reportedly briefed the press in Portugal that he’s hoping Manchester United will rethink their refusal to even entertain the idea of considering a world record transfer fee.

Is seems odd to me that Ronaldo is only talking directly to the Spanish press and perhaps a sign that he’s already started to make his move.

I’m now convinced that Cristiano Ronaldo will start next season at Real Madrid.

Real irritation continues at united

Filed under: Players on Monday, June 2nd, 2008 by admin | 1 Comment

Sir Alex Ferguson says that we will not sell Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid and they would “sit a player in the stand, I’m telling you, absolutely no point about it, just to prove a point.”

This is the latest update in the will Ronaldo try and go to Real Madrid saga. I suppose it’s more a case of can he wriggle his way out of his contract with United and that’s why he’s said he will clarify his position in “two or three days”.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract with United runs until 2012 but Real Madrid manager Bernd Schuster has made no secret about the fact that he would love to see Ronaldo at Real Madrid. Worringly, Real’s president Ramon Calderon has said “We know they [United] aren’t a selling club. It is a problem between player and team.” This to me indicates that perhaps Real Madrid have already had a quite word in Ronaldo’s ear along the lines of ‘if you can become a free agent there’s a deal for you here’…

Ferguson remains defiant and says that the Glazers have been good for United since they took over in 2005; “They have been good to this club, believe me,” he said. “They have been brilliant owners.”

As Ronaldo says hopefully he will clarify his position in the next 2 or 3 days.
