Slip up at Everton costs us points

Filed under: Match Results on Monday, October 27th, 2008 by admin | No Comments

A disappointing 1 - 1 draw at Goodison Park yesterday means that we’re now 7 points behind Premiership leaders Liverpool, which is not a good feeling and not where we all want United to be at any point in any season…

If you ask me we failed to capitalise on our dominating first half performance and in the second half we let Everton bully us off the ball.

Real still won’t let Ronaldo saga go

Filed under: Players on Monday, October 13th, 2008 by admin | No Comments

Real to make new bid for RonaldoUnbelievible news today that Real Madrid coach Bernd Schuster has revealed that the Spanish giants hope to have signed Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo by next summer.

Ronaldo, 23, was heavily linked with a move to Real earlier this year but the Spanish side eventually had to admit defeat in their bid to sign the winger.

But Schuster is determined to make a new approach at the end of the season. “We must do everything possible as it would be worth it to have this player,” Schuster told Spanish newspaper Marca.

Ferguson on the Community Shield win

Filed under: The Manager on Tuesday, August 12th, 2008 by admin | 1 Comment

Manchester United win Community Shield

Sir Alex Ferguson comments on our Community Shield win;

“We dominated possession and had some good chances but it is this issue with scoring at the moment.”

“But, if you are making chances as numerous as we were in this game, we should not worry about it.”

We should definately have had a penalty when Tevez was brought down by Hreidarsson, Ferguson said; “I think everyone thought it was a penalty, I don’t know what position the referee Peter Walton was in.”

“Anyway, it wasn’t given and it doesn’t matter.”

Of course Gary Neville made his 66 minute comeback after his broken ankle injury, which has kept him out since March 2007, Ferguson commented; “I was very pleased with our performance - it was excellent,”

“I think we gave Gary the right number of minutes. That was perfect for him.

“When you think he has been out that length of time and come back the way he has, it’s remarkable.”

Don’t forget, how can you!? We kick off the defense of our Premier League title on Sunday with a home game against Newcastle United, kicking off at 16:00. Place your football bets here! Get the latest odds on United winning the Premiership AGAIN!

Ferguson on Ronaldo and extending his contract!?

Filed under: The Manager on Friday, August 8th, 2008 by admin | No Comments

Sir Alex Ferguson

Well at least for now it seems like the Ronaldo transfer saga is over, thank God! And a happy Sir Alex Ferguson is now talking about the possibility of extending Ronaldo’s contract! Here’s what he had to say about it all;

“Real know they are dealing with a different animal now,”

“As Ronaldo gets older, he’ll appreciate being here more. The longer players stay, they don’t want to leave.”

“Cristiano will now settle down and enjoy his career here,” said Ferguson.

“He has four years left on his contract and hopefully, at some point, we would like to extend it. That’s where we are.”

“I can’t deny it was an important issue to keep him here. There are very few players who have left me against my will and it is unusual for anybody to want to leave United.”

“I think Cristiano realises that. We had a good meeting in Portugal that clarified a lot of things.”

“It was good and I was pleased with it and that’s why I felt everything was going to be all right.”

“We’re happy. Cristiano’s interview was very good and he explained himself perfectly from my perspective,” added Ferguson.

“As I said on Wednesday, the matter is closed and he is a Manchester United player.”

“He is happy to be a Manchester United player and he has always been happy here.”

“It’s just unfortunate that the participation of Real Madrid in the player’s life that has made it difficult for him.”

“But the important thing is that we have ended all the stuff about Real Madrid.”

Cristiano Ronaldo says ‘I’m never going back to United’

Filed under: Players on Wednesday, August 6th, 2008 by admin | No Comments

Cristiano Ronaldo what is going on?Yesterday tea time I saw what seemed to be Sir Alex Ferguson drawing a line under the whole Ronaldo and Real Madrid saga. I saw Ferguson saying ‘He is a Manchester United player and will be next season’. Then when a reporter tried to ask him more about it Ferguson just said ‘that’s the end of the matter’ bascially telling everyone it was finished.

Now I’ve just seen this ‘report’ fuelling further speculation that Ronaldo isn’t coming back to United! So what and who do we believe? This is from The Mirror.co.uk - Cristiano Ronaldo: I’m never going back to Man United

This report suggests that Real Madrid will make a £70 million bid and try to tie it all up by August 14th.

Campbell to get a chance this season

Filed under: Players on Monday, August 4th, 2008 by admin | No Comments

Fraizer Campbell gets a chance next seasonSir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that Fraizer Campbell will be the third striker for United alongside Rooney and Tevez next season.

It looks like Campbell 20 will get a chance to show Ferguson what he can do in the Premiership next season as he scored the winning goal against Espanyol in Ole Gunnar  Solskjaer’s testimonial match at Old Traffrd.

Ferguson said; We do not have any strikers apart from Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez and Frazier plays in that area.

“He is quick and determined and he can do very well in the game. Fraizer’s future is here.”

”Campbell has taken his goal very well and it won’t do him any harm. He’s an aggressive young player,”

“We are also hoping to apply for a work permit for Manucho, who comes from Angola. That will give us more back-up.”

“Michael Carrick and Wayne Rooney have been struggling with a virus for a few days and they won’t be fit for the Juventus game on Wednesday. Hopefully they will be ready for the Community Shield next Sunday.”

Solskjaer will now focus on a coaching role at United and all the money raised at the testimonial match will go to charity, well done Solskjaer and good luck for the furture! I’m sure all United fans will remember that Champions League Final goal against Bayern Munich, classic Solskjaer!

Ronaldo will say he’s going

Filed under: Players on Friday, August 1st, 2008 by admin | No Comments

Angry Sir Alex Ferguson

I can’t believe the Spanish are still dragging the Cristiano Ronaldo saga out!

According to ‘AS’ a Spanish newspaper, Ronaldo has ’sent a message’ (one of those telepathic messages I rekon!) to Real Madrid promising that he will tell United that his transfer is non-negotiable. They’re even quoting Ronaldo’s exact words!

Apparently it’s all going to kick off with Fergie and Ronaldo next Tuesday! We’ll see…I’m not convinced he’s going anywhere and this is yet more speculation and media hype!

Ferguson say Sepp Blatter ’slavery’ comment was unfortunate

Filed under: The Manager on Tuesday, July 29th, 2008 by admin | 1 Comment

 Sir Alex Ferguson

Sir Alex Ferguson has commented on the FIFA president; Sepp Blatter’s critisism of Manchester United, comparing the refusal to sell Cristiano Ronaldo to modern day slavery.

United manager Ferguson said: “It was an unfortunate statement from someone in such a position.”

“Slavery was abolished many years ago. Players can earn £5m or £6m a year.”

“I do not want to dignify this kind of statement with a response but when you consider the history of slavery, it was a very unfortunate statement.”

Of course Ferguson is talking about this comment from Blatter earlier in the year when the whole Ronaldo/Real Madrid transfer speculation kicked off;

“I’m always in favour of protecting the player and if the player wants to leave, let him leave”

“I think in football there’s too much modern slavery in transferring players or buying players here and there, and putting them somewhere.”
